Well it’s finally here! The all-new updated Ford Connect van. With two model lengths and a handy flip-up bulkhead cover as standard to allow 3 metre pipes to be stored, Ford have tried to capture the tradesman market in the UK.
With this launch comes the start of the new accessories for the van as many manufacturers race to be the first to launch their products.
Vanax have had the first New Ford Connect L1 H1 van in to our workshops to be templated for ply lining. Offering a split offside wall panel, 2 piece side load door and 6 piece rear door set, Ford have certainly not made it the easiest van to line. But our experienced joiners have successfully templated a total of 21 ply panels to ensure your pride and joy is protected from the start.
Ford have decided to store the tool kit and jack behind the nearside wall panel. It makes sense and although it is notply lined, the jack and the size of the compartment will ensure that loose cargo cannot damage the outside skin.
Possibly one of most controversial decisions that Ford have made it to supply the vehicle with twin side steps even when only one the nearside door is present. This will be a “love it” or “hate it” scenario for many operators who prefer a flat and enclosed floor space for their cargo. Only time will tell how it is accepted. We are already looking at offering the customers of blanking off the offside step! Our new ply lining kit is offered on a supply only, supply and Vanax workshop fit or mobile installation within selected ares. For further details, please visit our van lining section.
Rhino Products were the first to launch their Delta bar version. Available in 2 and 3 bar versions with the option of a rear roller and adjustable load stops. They intend to offer the full complement of roof rack formats (aluminium racks, modular racks, SafeStow3 systems) in the very near future.
Van Guard have launched their new ULTI bar offering for the Connect. Available in 2 and 3 bar versions with optional roller, they have succeeded in solving the problem of accessing the front roof fixing points which are hidden by the head cloth by supplying a special long handled tool to make fitting easier. This is included in every kit supplied and ensures that roof rack fitting can be completed by competent DIY enthusiasts.
We will certainly see more products being launched as the popularity of the new Ford Connect takes hold. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
